Direct from the Authority
Google has directly has published as part of its webmaster guidelines as far back as 2011 “You may have heard that here at Google we’re obsessed with speed, in our products and on the web. As part of that effort, today we’re including a new signal in our search ranking algorithms: site speed. Site speed reflects how quickly a website responds to web requests.Speeding up websites is important — not just to site owners, but to all Internet users. Faster sites create happy users and we’ve seen in our internal studies that when a site responds slowly, visitors spend less time there. But faster sites don’t just improve user experience; recent data shows that improving site speed also reduces operating costs. Like us, our users place a lot of value in speed — that’s why we’ve decided to take site speed into account in our search rankings.”
In January 2018, Google announced its Speed Update as part of its webmaster guidelines, states that mobile speed is now a part of ranking factors. Both a websites desktop and mobile rankings can change due to site speed.
Google takes notice if a website has a high bounce rate and one of the reasons can be sluggishness, and sites that do see a drop in search engine rankings. That’s because Google notes the correlation between high bounce rate and a bad user experience.
Does it matter what hosting provider I’m using?
I work any hosting provider. I understand that different websites have different needs and that people have realistic budgets that they have to meet. Keep in mind who you choose for a host, what type of plan and server location are all huge factors in speed. Sometimes enhancements do mean moving you off a slow shared host or hosting server with issues.

Every freelancer, company or agency will likely offer different packages or services and have different costs. At this time I do not have set costs as each project is different. I work make the most out of the service sometimes that means a one or more rounds of optimizations. Other times it can be more in-depth like updating a site, cleaning code or upgrading hosting.
